Scalp Micropigmentation

Here at Cambridge Micropigmentation Centre, we are pleased to offer SMP as a hair loss solution for both men and women. We understand that hair loss can greatly impact a person’s confidence levels, so it is our hope that in providing scalp micropigmentation treatments to our clients, we can help to restore some of that confidence.

Our clinic was founded by Ania Paterak, who was trained by one of the best at Mikro Hair, making our clinic one of the most chosen clinics for SMP in the whole of the UK. Treatment for men tends to include restoring your hairline but can also provide a solution for those who have already undergone transplant surgery and now require a way to camouflage scars.

Scalp micropigmentation words by replicating the appearance of hair follicles using pigments that are implemented by skilled technicians. Covering between three to four sessions, you will then benefit from a natural-looking shaved-head style. For most women, the treatment differs by tending to offer clients a way to increase the appearance of hair density in areas where it is thinning.

In addition to our SMP treatments, we also offer male and female clients microblading treatment for eyebrows. For women, we tend to offer a range of styles that deliver a feminine look, including a powdered effect, as well as hair stroke simulation through the microblading treatment, and lastly a combination of both. For men, we tend to use the microblading techniques in order to either offer eyebrow enhancement or a complete reconstruction of the brows, able to offer a more masculine look through our microblading treatment.

In both cases, we match the pigment to your natural hair colour in order to create the most appropriate look for you. We use fine brush strokes that can blend in seamlessly to create a natural appearance that frames your face in the ideal way. Whilst the hair on your head could be argued to be purely aesthetic, with eyebrows it is also important to get the right angles as they also play an important role in self-expression and non-verbal communication with others.

It may be the case that you have heard people talking about SMP, or you have seen it advertised as a permanent hair loss solution, yet you could still have many questions about what is it and whether it is right for you. Here at Cambridge Micropigmentation Centre, we want to make sure our clients are fully informed before undergoing any SMP treatment with us. To find out some of the frequently asked questions about SMP treatment, please read on.

What is SMP?

The basic idea of SMP is a kind of medical hair tattoo, which stands for Scalp Micropigmentation. The goal of the treatment is to replicate the hair follicles, offering the appearance of a shaved look. The pigment is implanted into your skin, in a way that is similar to a tattoo, but is distinct from it. You can expect the treatment course to be completed a number of sessions, typically lasting between two to five or four hours in each individual session, of which there should be at least three, but can take up to four. Usually, there would be ten days between the first set of treatments, with a four-week gap between any remaining treatment sessions.

How is the hair designed?

We consult with clients to consider the pattern and extent of your hair loss and discuss the desired results. We find the best match to your natural hair by looking at the original colour and shape of your hairline. We start with a shade lighter than your natural hair to see how the pigment settles into your skin. It is then possible to opt for a darker pigment, achieving a natural look. By providing us with photographs taken prior to your hair loss, we are then able to match the hairline design with your natural hairline from the past. The samples we draw will help you see what you can expect. Like with the pigment, we adjust as we go along, starting with a slightly higher hairline to begin with, and building it lower later in the treatment plan.

How Long does Scalp Micropigmentation Last?
We stress that SMP is a permanent treatment, so it something you need to be sure about before committing to as you will need to maintain the look for years to come. Even just one course of treatment can last between two to three years, but the exact outcome will depend on your lifestyle and immune system, and only time will tell. Whilst SMP is a type of tattooing, the exact skills and processes are different, as well as the machinery that is used to carry out the treatment. It is necessary for technicians to be specially trained in SMP in order to perform it on clients. Founder of the Cambridge Micropigmentation Centre, Ania Paterak, beginning as a semi-permanent make-up artist, is now both highly skilled and experienced as an SMP practitioner trained by Mikro Hair – one of the best SMP trainers in the world.
