The Benefits of Fractional Laser Resurfacing
At Cambridge Micropigmentation Centre, we specialise in providing micropigmentation treatment, but we are also pleased to offer a number of other services to our customers, including fractional laser resurfacing. This treatment is a single treatment, which takes approximately an hour to complete, and is available to clients across the UK from our Cambridge clinic.

Fractional laser treatment uses a laser, which creates micro-thermal tunnels deep into the skin. This stimulates the body’s natural processes to rejuvenate the skin, with results coming to fruition gradually over three months after the treatment is carried out. The Erbium Yag laser is made to be able to carry out both deep and superficial skin resurfacing. Read on to find out more of the benefits of fractional laser resurfacing.

It Minimizes Imperfections

The use of this laser can help to heal imperfections in the skins such as sun damage, acne scars, and fine lines. The skin absorbes the wavelength of light emitted by the Erbium Yag laser, and its pulses vaporise lines, wrinkles, scars, dark spots and other irregularities. Layer by layer, it can be used to treat mildly atrophic facial scars, for example, left from bouts of acne or illnesses such as chicken pox. It can help with conditions such as dyschromias (alternation of skin pigment), melasma (specifically brown or grey patches on the skin), or lentigines (small brown patches, typically associated with age). Additionally, it can be used to treat mild-to-moderate facial wrinkles in the perioral, periocular, and cheek areas. By using longer and variable pulses, even the most stubborn scars and wrinkles may be treated.

Improves Skin Quality

Aside from any imperfections outlined above, it can also improve the overall quality of the skin. The main benefits that everyone can see from this treatment are an improvement of the skin texture and an evening of the skin tone.

Stimulates collagen

Everyone’s skin ages over time, no matter how much water you drink or how many toxins you avoid. For firmer and more youthful skin, this treatment is able to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, which allows for the production of new, healthy collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, replacing the columns of affected tissue. This process also stimulates the formation of new, underlying collagen, thus providing better elasticity and support for the skin.

It May Help Treat Skin Lesions

This specialise laser treatment is indicated for mildly photodamaged skin lesions. For example, with solar keratoses, scaly, dry patches of the skin may have formed due to sun damage. Whilst these lesions are not usually serious, it is worth noting that the laser can only treat pre-cancerous lesions, and it is important to be aware of the risks that these lesions could become cancerous.

There is Minimal Downtime

Lastly, one of the additional benefits of fractional laser resurfacing is the fact that the treatment is so fast and effective. It only takes one treatment session to complete, and there is virtually no downtime after that; you can simply go about your daily life and reap the rewards as the results continue to develop of the three-month period post-treatment. The skin’s recovery period is approximately between five days to a fortnight, so throughout this time it is vital that you follow a strict aftercare routine. This will help you to benefit from the best results possible.
